How do I install and anchor an RPE liner?
Dig a trench around the outside, and lay the liner into it, then fill it back in. Or you can put dirt or smooth rocks right onto the liner. Just make sure you don't install the liner too tight so that when the water is added, it doesn't tug down on the anchoring.
The Premium RPE Pond Liner is generally accordion stacked and then rolled for shipping. To install, first start by placing the roll at the corner of the pond, so that it will unroll in the long direction. For example, if your pond is 20' x 40', the long direction is the 40' edge. After it is rolled out along the long edge, grab the top edge of the liner and pull it straight across the width of the pond. Depending on the size of the liner, you may need a number of people to help pull.

Before installing the liner, it is important to remove any groundwater that may be present in the excavation area. If you don't have any groundwater or a high water table at your property, then you don't need any ballast on top of the liner. The weight of the water will push down and hold the liner in place. However, if you do have a high water table, it's a good idea to use something to anchor the liner to the bottom of the pond and prevent it from moving/floating. This can be achieved with sand, small gravel, or larger heavier objects strategically placed throughout the pond. You don't have to completely cover the liner, but a wheelbarrow load of sand here and there would add a bit of weight if pressurized groundwater came up under the liner.
