Attaches directly to a submersible pump and allows water to travel in one direction only to prevent back-flowing when the pump is turned off. Also provides a quick-disconnect for quickly disconnecting the pump for service.

Features

  • Allows water travel in one direction only.

  • Prevents water from draining backwards into the pond when the pump is turned off.

  • Works with all 1 1/2" and 2" pump outlets

  • Features a 2" schedule 40 pipe outlet and a 1 1/2" or 2" MPT (male pipe thread) inlet which directly connects to the FPT (female pipe thread) outlet on the pump.

  • The included socket unions make it possible to easily disconnect the pump in the winter.

The Atlantic Triton Check Valve is designed specifically for use in pond and waterfall applications. Using a 'swing style" check valve design, the unit features a 2" socket union on the inlet and a 2" or 1-1/2" socket union on the outlet.  The Triton check valve connects directly to the pump's threaded outlet and discharges water to it's standard Schedule 40 PVC outlet. The unit includes a molded 90 degree elbow to allow easy hookup inside of a skimmer.

When is a check valve useful? Anytime you're bringing water out of the pond, it's good to install a check valve so that if the pump is shut off, all the water in the pipes will not run backwards back into the pond. A check valve is even more important if using an external pump. A check valve installed at the water intake will prevent water from running back into the pond when manually priming the external pump with water.  As well, because the check valve has socket unions on the inlet and outlet, it makes removing the pump for the winter quick and easy.
