The Atlantic BF1900 FilterFalls is a high quality waterfall filter that is part of Atlantic's Pro series.

Using durable and long lasting materials, these units are an easy way to build a waterfall into your pond landscape while adding some beneficial biological filtration.  The unit features a rolled upper rim, providing clean lines and incredible strength.  It's easy to attach a liner to the filer as well with the included one-piece liner attachment flange.  Solid lip and molded inserts ensure a watertight seal between the liner and the unit.

Our recommendation with these waterfall filters is not to use the unit itself as the finished spillway for your waterfall.  For the most natural result, we recommend building a pool of some kind out of rocks, or other natural material,  which is then filled by the waterfall filter.  This way the waterfall filter can be hidden underneath some rocks in the landscaping, and a more natural spillway can be constructed out of rock which delivers the water back into the pond.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size of pump should I use with the BF1900 FilterFalls?

The BF1900 FilterFalls waterfall filter will work with a pumping flow rate between a minimum of 2,500 gallons per hour and a maximum of 4,000 gallons per hour.  Anything more than 4000 gph and the filter won't be able to keep up with the flow that the pump is providing.  If 4000 gph isn't enough for your particular application, Atlantic makes these units in a number of different sizes, check out the other FilterFalls sizes here.

What pump would you recommend for this waterfall filter?

Our favorite line of submersible pumps are made by Shinmaywa.  The Shinmaywa 3300 Submersible has flow rate of 2600 gph at 5' of head, and the Shinmaywa 4800 Submersible has a flow rate of 3900 at 5' of head.  The 3300 is at the lower end of the recommended flow range, and the 4800 is at the upper end.  When buying direct drive pumps, it's always safest to buy a pump on the larger end since you can always dial it back to less flow if need be.  If less flow is desired, the flow rate can easily be decreased by installing a ball valve after the pump.  The nice thing about direct drive pumps is that as you close the ball valve, the pump in turn pumps less water, and also uses less electricity!  With magnetic driven pumps, the flow is also decreased, but the amount of electricity stays constant.   Not sure how much head pressure you have in your pumping system?  Always be sure before you buy a pump - see our page on Calculating Head Pressure to learn more.
